Atlanta's uniform reveal is six weeks out, and the anticipation has been building since the team confirmed a new look last fall. Everything points to red as the primary color, finally, after years of black dominating the palette.

The Falcons set their reveal date: April 2. A teaser video dropped a few weeks ago showing what looks like red fabric and a helmet shell. Not a lot to go on, but honestly, you don't need much more than that. Red is coming back. It's been a long time.

How Bad Were the Uniforms

Pretty bad. The 2020 rebrand made black the primary color of a franchise that spent the better part of 50 years in red, white, silver, and black accents. Of course, black jerseys are a part of the Falcons' history. However, the execution of the 2020 rebrand made them lack any identity at all. Worst of all, the only red jersey variant they had consisted of a red/black gradient. I am notably anti-gradient. And to top it off, the team insisted on using ATL across the chest like they are sponsored by Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The Falcons have red. They have always had red. The 1966 throwbacks that everyone loves are red. Arthur Blank has been in the stands watching a team in black for six years while fans asked for red at every possible opportunity. The franchise heard it. April 2 is the answer.

What April 2 Probably Looks Like

Black helmet. Red jersey. White pants as the go-to pairing. The current Falcons logo is actually fine. The flying falcon silhouette works, so I'd expect the logo to stay mostly intact and the overhaul to be more about color and template than a full identity reset. The 2020 uniforms weren't bad because of the logo. They were bad because someone decided overly modern was the answer for Atlanta in 2020.

April 2 is still a few weeks out. I'll have a full preview up as more details leak, and a breakdown on the day of the reveal.
